All About Waste Audits

Waste audits create a very accurate snapshot of your building or office’s waste streams (trash, recycle, and organics). We spend hours going through the waste, and then create a report detailing the contamination of recycle, missed recycling opportunities, potential for composting, and suggestions to reduce and divert more. With this information, we help you set goals, implement changes, and track progress.

We offer three different types of waste audits:

  • Visual audit, where we provide notes, photographs, and suggestions. We do not sort and weigh the bags
  • Representative sample audit, where we sort and weigh as many bags as possible in a given time period
  • Full audit, where we sort and weigh every bag of waste present. This can be used for LEED or TRUE accreditation


We take the health and safety of our waste auditors seriously. While conducting the audits, we will wear PPE including goggles, masks, puncture-proof gloves, and coveralls.
